Amongst "outstanding" 20th century houses
In 2012 the highly respected international publisher of architecture and design books, Phaidon Press UK, released its authoritative reference book 20th Century World Architecture. Its aim was to present and review “the finest built architecture from around the world in the 20th century”. This very large and comprehensive book describes some 750 buildings from almost 100 countries as being “of outstanding importance”.
The Fishwick house was included and honoured by being:
- One of only 134 single residences included worldwide
- The only Australian house from the first half of the 20th century
- With Wright’s Robie house, the only residences representing the work of the Prairie School architects from the American Midwest.
